The churches in the surroundings

In the historic center, S. Stefano church is very interesting, built in the 18th century on previous Roman remains. In three naves and with frescoes by Tagliaferro, there are several works of remarkable workmanship by artists of the Lombard and Flemish schools, while the altar is surrounded by 18th century copper oil medallions.

Other interesting churches are:
Santa Marta church, along via Calvi, on which facade there is the Roman tombstone of the 1st century AD, work of Mincio Exorato;
San Carlo church, built on the ruins of the ancient castle;
and the Sanctuary of Madonna della Pace, built in 1659 to celebrate the peace of the Pyrenees.
